In the very beginning EDGE created Highly Optimized Gear (HOG) as a brand for technical divers. It was never intended to be a brand for recreational divers, in fact unlike many "technical" brands, HOG isn't interested in "crossover" (wanna be)  recreational products with a "technical " look. To us, form follows function and all gear branded HOG is gear for serious exploration and expeditions. EDGE branded gear offers all the performance, quality and value of HOG (after all we are the same company) optimized for recreational divers.

Technical divers have different needs than recreational divers. Different hose lengths, so HOG regulators are sold without hoses, the technical diver can and needs to choose their own. They also come only in DIN; it is what technical divers use.

Our experience as technical divers, technical instructors and technical Course Directors (since 1995) taught us that technical divers with COMPREHENSIVE equipment knowledge were better and safer divers. As such we wanted to remove some barriers the traditional dive industry put up.

Technical Diving International (TDI) agreed and together we worked out the HOG/TDI repair Specialty. The course is open to TECHINAL divers. What that means is that the student has taken a technical level course. For example a TDI Nitrox course, but not SDI Nitrox, Intro to tech, GUE Fundamentals with a tech pass, but not a recreational pass.

EDGE/HOG does not teach this class, EDGE/HOG dealers who wish to participate and have a TDI HOG Repair Specialty Instructor on staff teach the class.

EDGE/HOG does NOT sell parts to end users. EDGE and HOG dealers are permitted to sell parts. EDGE /HOG recommends that parts are only sold to those with formal training in regulator repair.
